Artist's Statement: I approach making work with the experience of a goldsmith, the hands of a sculptor and the eyes of a painter. Each choice is informed by my need to create recognizable beauty that also transcends the conventional. I strive to meticulously execute my version of wearable sculpture, many pieces contain elements of surprise through the use of hidden secrets, moving parts, and accents of color through various patinas, pearls, enamel and gemstones. My pieces give substance to my vision through the combination of organic forms, abstract shapes, rich materials and endless variations in color, texture and composition. My aesthetic is heavily influenced by natural, organic forms found in plants and flowers, ocean life, architecture, historical jewelry, Art Nouveau and Victorian decorative arts.
